Our Pastor Emeritus

Bro. Charles Kennemore
It is such a blessing to my heart to have the privilege of stepping into a ministry that has been led for over 40 years by one of the greatest men of God the Upstate of South Carolina has ever seen. It is so wonderful that we as a church family have the opportunity to honor Bro. Kennemore as our Pastor Emeritus.
Pastor Joey Durham

Bro. Charles Kennemore grew up in Central, South Carolina. After graduating from Daniel High School, he married his wife, Gail. They have three children, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
In July 1971, Bro. Kennemore was saved at an evangelistic crusade at Clemson University's, Littlejohn Colosseum. Two years later, in 1973, he was called to preach during revival services at his home church, Welcome Baptist Church, Central SC, under the preaching of Evangelist Harold Boyd of Oklahoma.
In the Fall of 1976, Bro. Kennemore enrolled at Tabernacle Baptist Bible College, Greenville, SC. After earning his bachelor of Theology Degree in May 1979, he was ordained into the ministry before moving out of state to take his first church at Temple Baptist Church, in Franklinton, Louisiana.
In August, 1983, Bro. Kennemore felt the Lord leading him back to South Carolina. In November of that year, he accepted the pastorate of the Flat Shoals Baptist Church, Walhalla SC. During his ministry there, Bro. Kennemore was asked to serve on the executive board of Prayer Baptist Missions International, Gaffney SC, in 1989. Having a great love for missions, he gladly served as vice president for twenty two years before health reasons forced him to resign.
From 1997-1999, Bro. Kennemore had the opportunity to teach at West End Baptist Bible College, Easley SC. The pastor, Bro. Jack Connelly, acknowledged Bro. Kennemore's many years of dedication to the Lord's service by giving him an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from the college.
After 40 years, Bro. Kennemore resigned December 31, 2023, from Flat Shoals Baptist Church. He is forever grateful for the years the Lord has allowed him to serve there. During his pastorate, he saw the Missions program grow from 4 to 45 missionary families supported monthly through Faith-Promise giving. He encouraged the purchase of land, the construction of a Social Hall, and many church remodeling projects. He rejoiced in each soul saved and seeing two young men surrender to preach. He resigned knowing the KJV Bible would continue to be exhorted from the pulpit from once he stood for so many years.
